If someone told you that you could do this, fly through the air with the greatest of ease, if you would only buy their massively simply strategy used by extortionately successful trapeze artists around the world to swing higher and connect more easily with their partners – for only $49.95, you would think they were nuts or that they thought you were?
And for only $99.00 more each month you could join their high flying mastermind group for all the clever tips they did not give you for your original purchase. It is an absurd offer isn’t it and just about the only secret of success pitch I have not received yet.
Not a day goes by without yet another email hyping a “brand new” program from a self-appointed guru or their legions of affiliates.
And, after reading this article, if you think I’m all wet or too cynical, add your comments with your point of view, so everyone can see how you feel about the continuous stream of ‘can’t miss” schemes for online success.
If you have participated in more than one of the zillions of business development programs, courses or teleclasses, then you know that virtually all of them have several things in common.
And if you read a book about how to be a more successful professional, (I received announcements for two more today) you’ve probably noticed that they had the same two things in common: Either they don’t work at all, or they didn’t work for you. If they had, you’d be too busy with your clients right now to read this.
#1: The people who teach/sell the programs that don’t work probably don’t even know that they don’t work because they’ve never actually used them to do what they’re telling you to do. Maybe they are selling them as affiliates (resellers) on commission and have not taken the course themselves. Maybe they bought into someone else’s idea that they can make money telling you how to make money.
Haven’t you ever wondered why these programs and their promotions and their publicity all sound and look alike – as if they were created by people who attended the same teleclass on writing catchy headlines that sell? Maybe it’s because they are.
#2: Or the programs use examples and by implication suggest that you focus your efforts on entrepreneurs, new companies etc. Why would you do that? Since the government began keeping statistics it is well known that 80% of all new companies go out of business during the first five years. Then 80% of those go broke before the 10th anniversary. And that was before the Internet made it so easy to start a business. I bet the success rate is even smaller now. It takes quite an optimist to think that they can reverse decades of actual results and save these business people from themselves.
Or they use Fortune 500 examples, suggesting that you (like the author or their affiliates) will somehow magically beat out the rest of the intense competition for these limited opportunities. The decision/sales cycle and the politics of these large companies may mean that you run out of money before they make a decision. Or maybe they string you along keeping you in the loop and after months you learn that you were never going to get the business. They just needed another bidder to satisfy the committee. And all the while millions (literally) of successful companies, with the money to pay you and with no committees to make you jump through hoops – would line up to talk to you.
And if they do work, they rarely work for you because they are the product of the unique personality, skills, abilities, circumstances and contacts of the person who created them. Often the creator of the program has unique credentials that you do not have, which end up being the missing link in the chain.
Success is about your commitment to doing something, taking action. Your ultimate survival, success, and prosperity are really up to you. No one else is accountable and no one else is responsible.
Rather than buy into the next “success system” that comes along, I have a suggestion for you that will quite literally change your life – if you use it regularly.
You may have read in the “About” section of the web site that we created several hours of MP3 audio’s for use by professionals like you. In 2009 we are editing these audio files and creating some new video’s – which will be posted along side each of the articles (like this one) in the “Featured” category.
Once we have finished the process, it will take a while, you will be able to come back here and listen to the strategies we and many other professionals who took part in the initial Effectiveness Strategies project are using to grow our practices.
So now, why don’t you go to the “Effectiveness Strategies Updates” page above and choose your preferred method for staying connected to what’s coming?
You will be glad you did!
There is never any charge for Effectiveness Strategies.
